Mastiff kills Pomeranian at Vets?

Whether both dogs were on a leash or not has no bearing because even if your dog is on a leash you are still responsible for controlling them in all situations. The owner of Pom states that the dog did nothing to provoke the mastiff however many owners think antagonistic means barking or lunging, when in fact it could have been very subtle such as a stare down, bottlenecking, or that sort of thing. Regardless, if it goes to court all the owner can claim is what she paid for the dog when she originally purchased it as dogs are seen only as property. However if a judge deems that the defendant did not take ordinary care to prevent the attack then they may rule for damages /vet bills.
