Fatal error at site admin on wordpress?

Is this directly after install? I suppose you have missing files on the server (not all files have been copied), or maybe for some reason you have overwritten the wrong index.php file (e.g. the one in the root has been copied in the /wp-admin). Or maybe the FTP client has not kept the directory structure when copying the files.
