People who have owned both GSD's and dobermans only - need advice?

Well my grandparents bred and raised Dobermans for generation upon generation. I grew up with a Doberman as a babysitter. My father bred and raised German Shepherds and my brother bred, raised, showed Rottweilers. All three are great dogs. All three are very versatile, loyal and intelligent. My grandma loved the Dobermans for their dedication, intelligence, short coat, and affectionate side. Both the Dobermans and German Shepherds were affectionate. My grandparents also had German Shepherds and they only thing as bad as it sounds made the Dobermans their favorites were the shorter coats. As i sit here and think back both breeds were very devoted, protective and affectionate but there was a gentler side in the Dobermans. Do not get me wrong both breeds form close bonds with their owners, and each dog is an individual and the raising of the dog has a lot to do with it but I guess the Dobermans do tend to be slightly more affectionate and would be fit the title as a velcro dog.
