Is it selfish for a couple to divorce while having young children?

I think divorce is definitely understandable when there's physical/verbal abuse and other serious things going on. But I know a married couple who got divorced simply because they were "bored with their marriage" and had "nothing in common". They had a smooth divorce and their 3 year old daughter stays with mother and the father still gets visitations. Since the parents are the ones who decided to have kids, I think the negative effects of divorce on children outweigh the boredom of 2 people who just aren't lovey dovey anymore. Opinions?
